IPW Package - E6:S06:T57 (BR-039)
Task ID: E6:S06:T57
Host Task: T57-br039-cascade-whitelist-security-prompt-blocker.md
Intake BR: BR-039-cascade-whitelist-security-prompt-usability-blocker.md
Scope type: Vendor blocker with repository-owned traceability and validation workflow
1) Problem framing and boundaries
Repository-owned outcomes
- Maintain clear cross-wiring between BR-039, task T57, and kanban artifacts.
- Keep a durable evidence log for retests against specific vendor versions.
- Define a repeatable re-verification protocol so status changes are evidence-based.
- Provide maintainer fallback guidance while blocker persists.
Vendor-owned outcomes (out of scope for this repository)
- Fixing whitelist persistence/security prompt behavior in Cascade/Windsurf product code.
- Shipping security model changes in the upstream tool.
2) Executable specification
2.1 Traceability requirements
- BR-039 must list implementing task
E6:S06:T57. - T57 must link BR-039 and this IPW artifact.
- T57 acceptance criteria and BR language must remain "attempted/verified" safe:
- No "fixed/resolved/completed" claims until validated against current vendor build.
- Evidence entries must be append-only records (newest entries added, no destructive overwrite).
2.2 Evidence entry schema
Each retest entry must include:
date_utc(ISO-like timestamp or date+time UTC)tool_version(Cascade/Windsurf build or version string if available)scenario(what command/workflow was executed)expected(from BR-039 expected behavior)observed(actual behavior)result(pass,fail, orblocked)notes(workaround, escalation link, or follow-up owner)
2.3 Re-verification protocol
- Trigger retest when vendor announces relevant fix or when maintainer revisits blocker.
- Re-run BR-039 reproduction steps.
- Run a workflow-impact check using terminal-heavy sequence (RW or equivalent scripted flow).
- Record evidence using schema above.
- Update statuses:
- If still failing: keep BR/T57 in TODO or IN PROGRESS with vendor-blocked note.
- If passing on current build: mark as attempted fix verified and queue RW closure update.
3) Test and verification design
3.1 Manual scenarios
- Scenario A (whitelist persistence): approve+whitelist command, rerun same command, verify prompt recurrence behavior.
- Scenario B (session continuity): run 10+ routine commands in same session; measure prompt interruptions.
- Scenario C (workflow continuity): run a release-like command sequence and observe whether prompts break flow.
3.2 Pass/fail rules
- Pass: prompts are suppressed for whitelisted commands and workflow continuity is maintained.
- Fail: repeated prompts continue for previously whitelisted commands.
- Blocked: missing capability/version info prevents reliable validation; record exact blocker.
3.3 Language guardrail (changelog/docs)
- Use: "attempted fix", "change implemented", "verified".
- Do not use: "fixed", "resolved", "completed" without validation evidence.
4) Implementation sequencing plan
- Update host task T57 with planning artifact links and explicit execution checklist.
- Update BR-039 with re-verification protocol and evidence logging section structure.
- Keep board/task status consistent (no closure claim without verification evidence).
- On vendor update:
- execute retest protocol,
- append evidence,
- update T57/BR statuses,
- release via RW for forensic version anchor.
5) Done definition (repo-side)
T57 can be considered done on the repository side when all are true:
- Traceability and bidirectional links are in place and current.
- At least one recent evidence entry exists with explicit pass/fail/blocked outcome.
- Re-verification protocol is documented and actionable for maintainers.
- Any status claim aligns with evidence (attempted vs verified).
If vendor fix is not yet available, done state may remain "documented and monitored" rather than "fully resolved".
6) Execution-ready checklist (for next implementation cycle)
- Confirm current vendor version/build under test.
- Run BR-039 repro sequence and whitelist persistence check.
- Run terminal-heavy continuity sequence and collect observations.
- Append evidence entry in T57 and/or BR-039 with date/version/result.
- Decide status outcome (
fail/blocked/verified) with rationale. - If verified, prepare RW update for closure language and version anchor.
