Overview​

Enhance the PLAN phase of the Release Workflow by adding objectives, expected outcomes, and verification plans to the changelog format. This strengthens the planning phase and provides clear documentation of intent.

  • PDCA integration plan: docs/architecture/standards-and-adrs/rw-pdca-integration-plan.md
  • Step 3 (Create Detailed Changelog) current implementation

  • Enhanced changelog format with PLAN section
  • Objectives field added to changelog
  • Expected outcomes field added to changelog
  • Verification plan field added to changelog
  • Updated Step 3 (Create Detailed Changelog) guidance
  • Updated changelog examples

Approach​

  1. Update Changelog Format:

    • Add PLAN section to changelog template
    • Define structure: Objectives, Expected Outcomes, Verification Plan
    • Ensure backward compatibility

  2. Add Objectives Field:

    • Define format for objectives
    • Add to changelog template
    • Add examples

  3. Add Expected Outcomes Field:

    • Define format for expected outcomes
    • Add to changelog template
    • Add examples

  4. Add Verification Plan Field:

    • Define format for verification plan
    • Add to changelog template
    • Add examples

  5. Update Step 3 Guidance:

    • Update release-workflow-agent-execution.md Step 3 section
    • Add PLAN section creation guidance
    • Add examples of PLAN sections

  6. Update Examples:

    • Update all changelog examples to include PLAN section
    • Update changelog archive examples
    • Update cookbook examples

  • Objectives field added and documented
  • Expected outcomes field added and documented
  • Verification plan field added and documented
  • Step 3 guidance updated
  • Examples updated throughout documentation
  • Backward compatibility maintained (PLAN section optional)
  • E2:S02:T01 – Add CHECK Phase (coordinates with verification plan)
  • E2:S02:T02 – Add ACT Phase (coordinates with expected outcomes)
  • E2:S02:T05 – Create PDCA templates and examples (includes PLAN templates)
