E7:S06:T09 – Config and Git State Validation

Task ID: E7:S06:T09
Status: COMPLETE
Priority: HIGH
Last updated: 2026-03-25
Version: v0.7.6.9+1
Version Anchor: v0.7.6.9+1

Scope

Validate rw-config vs paths, git state, .cursorrules alignment.

Input

rw-config.yaml, version.py, .cursorrules, .cursorignore, git status, branch/tag state

Deliverable

Config and git state validation report

Acceptance Criteria

  • rw-config paths validated
  • Git state clean/expected (baseline documented; see Audit)
  • .cursorrules aligned with config

Audit (2026-03-25)

1. rw-config.yaml path matrix

All paths resolved from repository root; all OK.

KeyPathResult
version_filesrc/fynd_deals/version.pyOK (file)
main_changelogCHANGELOG.mdOK (file)
changelog_dirdocs/changelog-and-release-notes/changelog-archiveOK (dir)
scripts_pathpackages/frameworks/workflow mgt/scriptsOK (dir)
readme_fileREADME.mdOK (file)
kanban_rootdocs/project-management/kanbanOK (dir)
kanban_boardkboard.md (under kanban_root)OK (file)
fr_br_rootdocs/project-management/kanban/fr-brOK (dir)

Pattern spot-check (Epic 7):

  • epics/Epic-7/Epic-7.md — exists
  • epics/Epic-7/Story-006-*.md — matches Story-006-post-windsurf-project-review.md
  • Task doc Story-006-post-windsurf-project-review/T09-config-and-git-state-validation.md — matches T\{task\}-*.md convention under story folder

Semantics: changelog_archival.mode: latest_only matches CHANGELOG.md (repository root) header and practice. semver_mapping_strategy: task_touch matches README / semver_converter.py usage. use_kanban: true matches RW Step 7 behavior.

2. Version file and branch

  • version.py (pre-RW): 0.7.6.8+1, VERSION_EPIC=7, VERSION_STORY=6, VERSION_TASK=8 — consistent with Epic 7, Story 6, completed T08.
  • Branch: epic/7-documentation-maintenance — epic digit 7 aligns with VERSION_EPIC.

Story goals: After T09 and RW, goals “Align version, changelog, and kanban to a single coherent state” and “Validate config drift and git state” are satisfied by this audit plus ongoing RW/kanban discipline (T02–T09).

3. Git baseline (pre-RW commit)

  • Branch: epic/7-documentation-maintenance (tracking origin).
  • git status: Local modifications present before this RW: docs/project-management/kanban/kboard.md (prior manual refresh), .coverage (pytest artifact; listed in .gitignore). Action: RW commit includes intentional kanban updates; .coverage not committed.

4. .cursorrules vs rw-config.yaml

  • File Paths (ai-dev-kit) block lists src/fynd_deals/version.py, CHANGELOG.md, changelog archive under docs/changelog-and-release-notes/changelog-archive/, kanban under docs/project-management/kanban/, validators under packages/frameworks/workflow mgt/scripts/validation/matches live rw-config keys and repo layout.
  • Kanban board: Rules mention _index.md or kboard.md; both exist; rw-config primary board file is kboard.md — consistent.
  • Embedded YAML example in rules uses generic fallback docs/changelogs for projects without config — not a contradiction; rules state config overrides when present.
  • validate_rw_task_intent.py referenced in rules — present under scripts_path/validation/.

5. .cursorignore

  • No root .cursorignore file in this repository. Assessment: Acceptable; no concrete ignore requirement identified in this audit. Optional future addition if IDE noise warrants it (defer to separate chore).

Findings

AreaSeverityAction
rw-config pathsNone; all valid
Version vs branchAligned
Git dirty kboard.mdLowFolded into RW kanban Step 7 updates
.coverage untracked/modifiedLowRemain ignored via .gitignore
.cursorrules vs configAligned; no edit required
.cursorignore absentInfoDocumented only

Summary: Low risk to RW and kanban traceability — configuration SoT is consistent with filesystem and agent rules.

Recommendations

  • Keep load rw-config.yaml first as mandatory in RW (already in .cursorrules).
  • Contributors: use epic branch naming consistent with VERSION_EPIC (validated by validate_branch_context.py).
